1. How many UNESCO World Heritage sites are in Sri Lanka?


There are eight: Polonnaruwa, Sigiriya, the Golden Temple of Dambulla, the old town of Galle and its fortifications, Anaradhapura, Kandy, Sinharaja Forest Reserve, and the Central Highlands.


2. What can you tell us about entrance fees to the cultural sites?


Entrance fees to the cultural sites are set by the Sri Lankan government and are paid in US dollars at a ticket box at each site. The fees vary between US$15 - US$30 per person. Sanjaya has free access to all sites and museums because he is a guide.


3. How many National Parks are in Sri Lanka?


Currently there are 26 National Parks


4. What National Parks does Sanjaya Tours visit?


We work around our clients interests and requests however, our most frequently visited National Parks are Wilpattu, Kaudulla, Minneriya, Udawalawe, Bundala, Yala.


5. What animals and birds can we expect to see?


Depending on the season you will have a chance to see elephants, leopards, sloth bears, crocodiles, mongoose, water buffaloes, monkeys, sambar deer, spotted deer, chital deer, squirrels, flying fox, water monitors, marine turtles, blue whales, humpbacks and dolphins. There is an astonishing abundance of birdlife. There are more than 400 species of which, 33 are endemic to Sri Lanka.


6. How much does it cost to go on a safari?


Once again it varies with the season but you can expect to pay between US$120 - US$160 for a private safari. Sanjaya can organise a safari for you with a reputable company who use Japanese jeeps and experienced drivers. Sanjaya will accompany you on the safari as your guide and work with the driver to give you the best possible wildlife experience.


7. What time of day is best to climb "Lion Rock"?


It is best to start your climb in the early morning or late in the afternoon to avoid the heat in the middle of the day. You will need a certain level of fitness and not have a fear of heights to make the climb. Sanjaya will accompany you and provide any assistance that may be needed.


8. Does Sanjaya Tours Sri Lanka provide adventure tours?


Sanjaya is able to accompany you on hikes e.g in Horton Plains National Park or climbs e.g Adam's Peak or Little Adams Peak but if you are looking to try white-water rafting, surfing, canoeing, whale watching or hot air ballooning Sanjaya can provide you with details of the operators and assist you to book a tour.


9.  Do I need a visa and vaccinations for Sri Lanka
